Research Coordinator Full Time

Location: Columbus, GA

Position Goal

Position is responsible for effectively monitoring all Hughston related research projects/operations; this position serves as a liaison between administrative and scientific teams.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for efficient daily research operations ensuring all studies follow established Hughston protocols and are compliant with state, federal and local agencies for work assigned.
  • Manages all logistics for lab research; prepares and submits reports/data elements for IRB review or administration as necessary; follows up as necessary. Participates in IRB meetings and serves as scribe in meetings.
  • Assists in audits as necessary to ensure compliance with research at all times. (also sponsor audits)
  • Coordinate site vists with research sponsor personnel as needed.
  • Coordinates data collection for all research activities and manages all admistrative functions of each assigned project accordingly. Performs computer database queries, data sheet design, data entry and data analysis.
  • Manages activities to ensure research milestones are met as originally projected; ensures projects completed timely according to research work plan.
  • Assists in recruiting, screening of project/study participants; obtains and tracks all consent forms and paperwork needed for the assigned projects.
  • Responsible for research tracking and reporting adverse events per Hughston protocols.
  • Assist as direction with creation and/or submission of grant proposals, applications and manages follow up for each.
  • Remain current in all governmental policies dictating protocol for patient rights, conflicts of interest and research studies.
  • Assist in creation/management of reseach budget; manages variances on a monthly basis.
  • Orders supplies as necessary to ensure continuity of assignments.

  • Utilize effective communication skills (written and verbal) when interacting with co-workers, other clinic employees, supervisors, and outside vendors.
  • Promote Hughston’s role in the community by greeting and interacting with all patients, families, visitors, vendors, and guests in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Provide support or relief for other staff as needed.
  • Demonstrate confidentiality in all aspects to include both patient and non-patient issues.
  • Reflect Hughston’s values and is sensitive to Hughston’s ethical and compliance principles in daily activities.
  • Promote resolution of concerns and conflict by routing through correct mechanism or resolving the situation independently.
  • Prioritize daily functions and tasks.
  • Display a willingness to put forth effort in problem solving.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Required:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products: exel, word, powerpoint, outlook and to be able to work with industry specific programs as assigned.
  • Proficient in Google sheets.

Education:

Required:

  • BA or BS in science; or related field or a minium of 2 years high level administration experience.

Special Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License, satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) and proof of insurance required for position on-boarding.
  • Annual MVR may be required per policy and procedure; background reports may be ran as needed throughout the course of employment.
  • Demonstration of leadership skills in performance of daily duties is required along with good professional judgement. This position requires critical thinking skills in management of daily duties.
  • Must be able to work independently and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both oral and in writing.
  • Must be knowledgeable of research methodologies, regulation and ethics.
