Audiology Office/Medical Assistant Part Time

Department: Clinic Operations HMG
Location: Columbus, GA

Position Goal:

The Audiology Office/Medical Assistant will assist HMG Audiologist(s) as assigned and provide for administrative/clerical support to the audiology function.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and assists Audiologist with scheduling and conducting hearing screenings for patients.
  • Answers office telephone; routes calls and messages to proper contact.
  • Review and maintain charts to ensure completeness/EMR guidelines w/reviewing clinicals.
  • Greets/escorts patient from waiting area to audiology area, triage as needed.
  • Constant monitoring of schedules and patient flow to ensure maximum efficiency/organization.
  • Assist patient with medical device (hearing aids etc…)
  • Schedules return appointments and maintains patient charts.
  • Assist with placement, removal, and instruction of devices.
  • Ensures all equipment in safe working order.
  • Verifies/obtains referral numbers or authorizations for upcoming appointments.
  • Scan scripts and reports into patient chart as needed.
  • Add notes to appointment to help keep providers informed at all times.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and accurately documents in patient chart/verification form.
  • Enters data and prepares timely reports as instructed by supervisor.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment using approved techniques; clean and stock equipment/room after each patient.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all HMG audiology policy and procedure. Follows all state/federal regulations.
  • Communicate restrictions and instructions to patients.
  • Follow up calls to patients as directed.

Experience: One- year relevant medical experience required, preferably working under guidance of licensed Audiologist.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Advanced/higher education in related area preferred. BLS Required.  Knowledge of audiology equipment/medical terminology is preferred
Special Qualifications: Must be able to work independently and have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements. Maintains BLS certification. Knowledge of the health care field and medical specialty.  This position requires flexible work hours. Current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be in satisfactory standing. Position requires excellent communication skills both oral and written.
